Student & Young Professional Scholarships

Scholarships to participate in SEICon24 and get involved with SEI are provided by the SEI Futures Fund in collaboration with the ASCE Foundation. 

Student Scholarship

Eligibility: Must be a current full-time student (undergrad or grad student enrolled in civil engineering or similar program), a current SEI member (one Institute is free with ASCE membership), and not have attended Structures Congress previously. 

Up to 50 student scholarships are available for 2024. Make sure to review all the details, the areas of evaluation, and what needs to be included in your application before applying.

Young Professional Scholarship

Eligibility: Must be a young professional (35 years or younger) in industry or academia with plans to become more involved with SEI. Limited to one time per recipient and students are not eligible. 

Up to 30 scholarships (5 dedicated to full-time teaching faculty) are available for 2024. Make sure to review all the details, the areas of evaluation, and what needs to be included in your application before applying.

SEI Student & Young Professional Future Leader Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a current student or young professional (35 years or younger), a current member of SEI (one free Institute with ASCE membership), have previously attended Structures Congress, and interested and able to participate in-person as a facilitator, panelist, or moderator in technical sessions dedicated to the future of engineering education at SEICon24. The scholarship recipients will participate in sessions leading small group discussions or speaking on a panel focused on communication, education and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Up to twelve scholarships are available for 2024 made possible by the SEI Futures Fund to provide increased participation and leadership opportunities. Scholarship recipients will be formally mentored by SEI members while preparing the technical session. Make sure to review all the details, eligibility, and what needs to be included on your application before applying.

The goals of this program are to:

  1. Encourage students and young professionals to continue to attend Structures Congress and maintain an active role in SEI.
  2. Enhance the technical communication skills of student and young professionals.
  3. Facilitate discussions on the future of the structural engineering education and the profession.
  4. Provide an opportunity for students and young professionals to network with leaders in the structural engineering community.
